Pizza Balls

This is such a ridiculously easy recipe and a perfect addition to bring a party, serve as an appetizer or pop in your kid’s lunches!

They freeze beautifully – a handy treat to have on hand when friends or family pop in on you!

You can whip up a batch in less time that it’s taking me to write this post.

Start with pizza dough – enough for two pizzas. You can make your own or buy the pre-made dough. Our local grocer offers a wonderful whole wheat dough that is close to home made!

Take an 8 oz. chunk of Mozzarella cheese and cut it into to little cubes. Have a package of pepperoni (we like the turkey version!) on hand. You’ll need about 48 pieces of pepperoni.

You can roll out the dough and cut it into 24 squares or pinch out a small chunk and flatten with your fingers. I prefer pinching!

In the flattened dough ball – place a pepperoni slice, a chunk or two of cheese, another pepperoni slice and roll the dough up around it. Pinch the ends and place in either a pie pan or a 8 x 8 spray baking pan.

Brush the tops with olive oil and generously shake Italian seasoning over the tops of the dough balls. I like Penzy’s Italian seasoning.

Bake in a pre-heated 400 degree oven for 20 minutes until the tops are browned. Serve warm with warmed pizza or marinara sauce for dipping.

Yum! Pop ‘em in your mouth!
