One of my most favorite things to make in the kitchen is treats for my dogs. I swear they know when something’s going on in the kitchen for them for they stand in front of me – looking so obedient and grateful.
My rescue – Polly – will do anything for a home made treat!
This recipe is easy, wholesome and yummy -according to them!
They’re chock full of cheese – cheddar and Parmesan with a sprinkling of parsley to help with their doggie breath.
They keep in a cookie jar for about two weeks but you can easily freeze them for about 6 months.
Since dogs don’t digest dairy products well although there is no question that they do love them, instead I used cooked brown rice and peanut butter in the last dog treats I made. The aroma as they baked was lovely.
I also use a blend of various sifted flours including brown rice flour for extra crunch.
Some dogs are said to be allergic to wheat flour which is why I use a variety.
I do suggest storing in the refrigerator if you make double and triple batches at one time. Your darling Polly is about the size of one of my cats.
Have you done any research into removing the garlic? I haven’t ever fed my dogs garlic or onion, scallions, etc. Concentrated forms of onion or garlic, such as dehydrated onions, onion soup mix or garlic powder, may put dogs at risk of toxicosis. I thought I would pass that along, maybe ask your vet what they think. The recipe looks delicious! I recently made your pumpkin biscuits and they were amazing. I also made oat flour using my Vitamix and added a bit of coconut oil.
I did some research on garlic and the recipe calls for such a minimal amount, that it is not a problem. I’m glad you tried the recipe – coconut oil is a great healthy addition!
Warm oven-fried crispy coconut chicken strips over a bed of baby greens, cucumber, tomato, shredded carrots topped with a hot honey mustard vinaigrette.
